SUMMARY:Just Nuisance Birthday Walk
DESCRIPTION:ANNUAL JUST NUISANCE BIRTHDAY WALK\, SIMON’S TOWN\, 06 APRIL 2024 \nEach year\, as close as possible to the 1st of April\, we arrange a commemorative walk through the picturesque main road of historic Simon’s Town to celebrate the life of the legendary Great Dane\, Just Nuisance. We invite owners and their canine companions to join a parade led by a marching band and the walk ends on Jubilee Square where prizes are awarded\, and birthday cake is cut and handed out. \nWe ask all those walking with us to register and pay a donation of R50 per pooch plus more if they wish\, and we split all the money received directly between the SPCA and TEARS who are the beneficiaries of ALL the proceeds. \nRegistration opens at 09h00 at Long Beach Simon’s Town and the walk starts at 10h00. There is a watering hole along the way\, as well as water at Jubilee Square where the parade ends. We hope to have a pet related market and some entertainment\, and we encourage the walkers to visit our local businesses\, museums\, etc. \nThis year\, as for 2023\, we will be led by the Nelson Mandela Artillery Pipes & Drums who give freely of their time and expertise for the occasion. Our Master of Ceremonies will be our local Ward Councillor\, Simon Liell-Cock. We usually finish up at around 13h00 after handing out donated prizes for ‘Best Just Nuisance Lookalike’\, ‘Best Dressed Owner & Pooch’\, etc. Depending on the amount of support we can muster in terms of prize donations. \nPLEASE DO JOIN US FOR THIS HAPY\, FUN OCCASION. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THERE!!

SUMMARY:Steam train arrives back in Simon's Town!
DESCRIPTION:Visit our beautiful historical village on the 21st of March 2024 on the Atlantic Rail & Ceres Rail Company vintage steam train! \nThe train leaves from the AC Hotel at Marriot (close to the Waterfront) at 09h00\, traveling via Bellville\, down to Maitland\, and then from Observatory to 15h00.\n\nFrom there on to False Bay where the view of the ocean is magnificent…\n\nThe railway line follows the coastline as it travels through the quaint villages of St James and Kalk Bay\, then winds through Fish Hoek and Glencairn\, finally coming to an end in Simon’s Town with a view of the naval dockyard.. The trip should arrive at 11h30.\n\nPassengers are free to explore Simon’s Town\, stroll to the beach or have a bite to eat at the many cafes and restaurants. The train then returns along the same route back to Cape Town at 15h00.\n\nTrains are operated by Atlantic Rail\, and Ceres Rail Company.\n\nTraveltime is an authorized ticket vendor for Ceres Rail & Atlantic Rail tour Bookings.\n\nThe stroll into the centre of Simon’s Town is around 1 kilometre and you will pass many points of historic interest\, including Admiralty House\, Simon’s Town Museum\, the Naval Museum and plenty of pretty buildings\, including the home of The Sweetest Thing patisserie which is an experience not to be missed! \nBookings@ceresrail.co.za\n079 401 9353\, www.ceresrail.co.za
