“Simon’s Town Dockyard – An Illustrated History”
Bill Rice who is compiling a definitive history of the construction
and operation of the East Dockyard to be published in 2010 to commemorate
the centenary of the opening of the Selbourne Dry Dock will present
an illustrated update on his research and progress.
A donation of R12,00 towards Museum Funds includes one glass of wine
or fruit juice. A small plate of snacks would be greatly appreciated. |

BARI BENGSTON – “Egypt and Jordan”
Bari will present an illustrated talk on her recent tour to Egypt with Keith
Grenville which included 5 days in Jordan visiting Aqaba, the Wadi Rum desert,
the ‘rose red’ city of Petra, called by some the eighth wonder
of the ancient world, built by the Arab Nabateans who hewed monumental tombs,
the palace, treasury, theatre, etc from desert sandstone in its natural colours
of rose and gold. |
