No real queries. Just a home sick South African trying to find pics of Fish Hoek, so thought I would just spend a bit of time giving my two cents worth. If anyone is bored living in Simons Town and surrounds, don't be because it's the best place in the world! I guess that's a bias opinion, but I stand by it.

Hello, again! I made a TERRIBLE mistake! I deleted an email to me about 'Marie Roberts' who I would so like to see again. Mike, our erstwhile Webmaster at that time tried to help by putting my (I know vvv stupid ) mistake on the front page. PLEASE if you're out there, I was not being rude, I was so excited, I literally pressed all the wrong buttons. Oh and Mike, we miss you. Jo

I wondered if anyone had any information on what the recent commercialisation of the harbour which I've read about might mean to Simon's Town. I understand that for financial reasons the navy has opened up facilities to alleviate some of the congestion of the port in Cape Town. Any info?

Worked in Dockyard from 1955 to 1967. Started with Admiralty .. then transfered to South African Navy. I like your webpage ...it has great historical value. Worked on building new dockyard gates unfortunately a plain steel plate hides the ornate work performed by Mr. Squirrel Randall and myself. Keep up the good work ... a worthy cause.

Delighted to have found this site. I lived as a child, in Simonstown in the late fifties, early sixties. My father was with the admiralty and we lived firstly in Solent/Hamoaze Courts. We then moved to to Medway Terrace, Runcimans Drive. I was educated at St.Josephs convent (remember Mother Katherine?) I am now 53 but remember well the atmosphere of this beautiful part of the world where I where I spent many happy years. I used to go riding on the salt pans with Mrs Dowley's riding school. Do your remember Seaforth beach, Boulders, the hotel Rhodesia-by-the-sea, Spotty Dog hamburger restaurant and the drive-in cinema? What wonderful memories. We travelled doen to SA on the Capetown Castle and back to Southampton on the same ship a few years later

I am a widow of some sixteen years; proud of my independence, yet regretting my loneliness. Seems dating has changed...porn pics? Want list? What is all this...where did that begin? I love Shakespeare, and cats! I am a fantastic cook, and do well with water...as in Koi ponds, or garden fountains. I work in a steel mill, for a foreman fifteen years my junior, who knows that he can obtain any limit of loyalty from me as long as he calls me "Darlin'." I am a good person. Wish I could find another. calippi

What else can I say but WOW, I was born in False Bay Hospital in 1972, with my father being in the Navy, I spent many years in Simonstown and LOVE IT.. Did my National Service at SAS Chapman in 1990 and moved to England in 1998. It is always nice to stumble across a web site about my home town with so much info on it and so many great pics. I would just like to comment on the message from Mr Carl Smith in this Guestbook.. I have eaten at Dixies many a time, and found the service very good, you just happened to go there on a bad day.. You should just be happy that you were in such a wonderful part of the country.. I could make many Bad Comments about JHB, but i keep them to myself.. So do me a favor and stop trying to slack places off that are part of my Home Town.. I will be coming back to Simonstown in the near future, and look forward to spending time with all my friends and Family who I have not seen in nearly three years... KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ON THE SITE..

I was in Simonstown in July and part of August this year, and I truly loved it! Stayed in the British Hotel, and ate at 2 and 6 pence pub often! The people were so amazingly nice there! I was there on a film shoot, but definitely plan to come back and visit in the future! Django's and Salty Sea Dog were also fun places to go! Shamil at Navigators was extremely nice! Wonderful place! I WILL be back for a holiday at some point in the future!

Iwas stationed in Simonstown on HMS Bermuda in 1951 - 1952. I was a musician in the Royal Marines Band. I have happy memories of lots of old friends of those years. The Craig family (who treated me like one of their own) Rakey DeVilliers, and others I can't recall their names. I also played at the "Jan Van Reibeck" festival in !952. That was a memorable week or so.

I am from Zim' but had two years in C.T and swam to Ark rock, from Boulders, prior to the penguins taking over, the only inhabitant then was a lonely Sealion. It was quite an undertaking as on getting there, the sealion was very territorial and it was back in the water very quickly. Another query, does anyone remember the Blue Moon hotel in Lakeside.
