Thunderclap Cottage welcomes you. Hike along Admiral's Trail to the waterfall above the town, spend lazy days on Seaforth Beach or browsing through the local galleries and shops - these are all an easy walk from your luxurious holiday home from home. The town is surrounded by nature including the local Jackass penguin colony and nearby Table Mountain National Park. Simon's Town is rich in architectural history, and has an active naval base, itself a product of the long seafaring tradition of the town. The Cape of Good Hope and the Atlantic and Indian oceans are nearby - come experience both in the same day!

ACCOMMODATION

Thunderclap Cottage has two bedrooms (1 double bed and 2 single beds). Both have en-suite bathrooms, one with a Victorian bath and shower and the other with a shower. It has a fully equipped modern kitchen with granite tops, electric stove, fridge/freezer, microwave and all the necessary cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. A washing machine is also available. There is a spacious living area, the sitting room area having a fireplace, TV and DVD player and the dining room area opening out into a secluded back garden. Barbeque facilities are available which can be used on the front porch or in the back garden. Off-street parking is available opposite the house or in the back garden behind a locked gate.

All bedding, linen and towels (including beach towels) are provided and the house is serviced weekly. Daily servicing can be arranged on request.

PLACES TO VISIT AND THINGS TO DO

Simon's Town itself is an historic town with an interesting naval and cultural history. The town has many excellent restaurants and is a prime location for whale-watching (in season). Sea kayaking is a popular outdoor activity with routes starting from the Simon's Town waterfront. Sailing, scuba diving and boat charters are available, as well as cycling, hiking, and horse riding. Cape Point nature reserve is only 15 minutes by car. The 'Scratch Patch' in Glencairn, a large gemstone factory, is a wonderful place to spend an hour or two- for children and adults alike.

Simon's Town is also close to the city of Cape Town which is world famous for its many natural (e.g. Table Mountain) and tourist attractions (e.g. V&A Waterfront) and there are also many fabulous wine routes in the Western Cape (e.g. Constantia, Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschoek) right on your doorstep.

The journey from the international airport takes approximately 45 minutes by car. Directions can be sent on request.
