St Georges, in the heart of Old Simon’s Town, is a beautifully restored historic building dating back to 1860. It is situated directly opposite the yacht basin and Jubilee Square which is a venue for craft sellers and colourful street buskers.
All the shops you require are within walking distance and there are many fine restaurants, bakeries and delicatessens in and around Simon’s Town. Cape Town with all her wonderful sights and activities is an easy 40 minutes’ drive away. There is a range of wonderful beaches with clean sand and clear unpolluted water. Boulders Beach, famous for its resident penguins is close by. For an unusual viewing of these birds, one can take a kayak trip from the yacht basin out into the bay and view the penguins from the sea!
A short drive gets you to the Cape Point Nature Reserve which offers many scenic trails along the beaches, up the mountains and through the Fynbos.
The South African Naval Base has been at Simon’s Town for well over 100 years and continues to create a special atmosphere by its presence.
Apartment Number 14 at St George’s has been tastefully furnished and is fully equipped for self-catering. There are two bedrooms – one with a double bed and the other with three single beds.
Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. There is a fully equipped kitchen. The combined lounge/dining room has a radio and a TV with a DVD player. Double glass doors open out onto an enclosed, private patio and small garden which faces the Simonsberg. There is a braai and outdoor furniture. All bedding and towels are supplied.
The complex has a laundry with a washing machine and tumble dryer which may be utilised by guests at a small fee. Bookings are for a minimum of four nights during low season and seven nights during high season.
