We
invite you to experience Old World charm, stylish elegance, comfort
and warm hospitality in our lovely home in the historic centre of Simon’s
Town. Our position immediately above Jubilee Square gives a bird’s
eye view of the yacht basin, the naval activity and panoramic views across
False Bay to the mountains. It is a short walk to the centre of our Victorian
village and its attractive waterfront. And in season we watch the whales
from our patio.
On a Self Catering basis 'Goede Hoop' can accommodate
up to six guests in three double rooms. The main bedroom has a king-size
double bed, en suite bathroom and walk in dressing room. The guest bedroom
has a queen size double bed with its own separate, but private shower and
toilet.
The second guest bedroom is separate, but within the house,
and has twin beds en suite bathroom and small private garden.
The open plan living/dining area has magnificent views
from all the windows and is stylishly and comfortably furnished with family
antiques and original paintings. The well appointed kitchen, situated across
a large serving counter, together with our daily maid Nomsa, make for easy
holiday living. Nomsa is delightful, trustworthy, unobtrusive and takes
the drudge out of your holiday.
The patio, with Sunbirds drinking at the
window is sheltered from the summer winds, has stunning sea views and is
perfect for outdoor living, relaxing and whale watching in season. It is
casually appointed with attractive patio furniture and braai facilities.
Sunrises are spectacular and at sunset the lovely evening colours reflect
on the clouds. A magic circle of sparkling lights illuminates the evenings
as you sip sundowners on the patio.
There is off street parking in our
quiet, safe, secluded close.
We require a minimum booking of two weeks.
A short flight of steps lead into the Victorian village with its Waterfront,
shops, restaurants, museums, kayaking and boat rides. A few minutes walk
takes you to the beach, or the train for a scenic ride round the bay.
We are conveniently close to Cape Point Nature Reserve,
the famous Penguin Colony, numerous sheltered, white sandy beaches, (where
you can swim with the Penguins) several excellent Golf Courses, Chapman's
Peak Drive, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, quirky Kalk Bay with it’s
working fishing harbour and quaint shops, horse riding, fishing, diving,
hiking and lots more.
We are an excellent base from which to explore the
entire Western Cape area. 40 minutes to the famous Winelands or to Cape
Town for a cable car ride up Table Mountain, a boat trip to Robben Island
or a visit to the V&A Waterfront.
